Detailed Event List | Politics and Prose BookstoreThe 19th annual event, to be held from a. Saturday, August 31, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, will feature more than authors, poets, and illustrators discussing and signing their books. The roster of festival authors includes big names, public figures, and Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award winners, who will make presentations on stages dedicated to kids, fiction, history, biography, poetry, science, and more; thematic programs and panel discussions will also be on offer throughout the festival. The full list of participating authors can be found on the Library of Congress website. The Library of Congress is a key organizer behind this and they do a remarkable job of lining up these authors and putting on what each year is quite an entertaining show for people of all ages.

The evening book groups meet at the Connecticut Avenue location, downstairs in The Den Coffeehouse. Two new book groups have recently formed: Bipartisan meets every first Sunday of each month at 5 p. Two book groups meet at our Union Market location at 5th St. The Horror! There is no need to sign up in advance; simply read the book club's selection and show up for the discussion. If you have further questions, feel free to email bookgroups politics-prose.
You might be familiar with our Book-A-Month Gift Program , in which our booksellers hand-pick a monthly gift for a reader in your life. Now you can sign up to have a first edition, first printing of a newly released book delivered each month directly to your - or your loved one's - doorstep. There is no enrollment fee. You can save by choosing to collect your books in the store. The program is available for six or twelve months at a time. We will showcase novels and literary nonfiction from authors whom we read and love, and who inspire us with contagious enthusiasm. This program is a chance to collect and cherish these "first firsts" for years to come.
