We use a lot of the terms associated with the procurement world interchangeably. Supply chain management SCM! There is a distinct difference between procurement and supply chain management. Some of the tasks involved in the procurement process include developing standards of quality, financing purchases, creating purchase orders, negotiating price, buying goods, inventory control, inventory management, and disposal of waste products like the packaging. In the overall supply chain process, procurement stops once your company has possession of the goods. To make a profit, the cost of procuring your goods must be less than the amount you can sell the goods for, minus whatever costs are associated with processing and selling them.
Supply Chain Management - New Perspectives. A supply chain is a network that enables the distribution options for procurement of both raw and finished materials, which can be transformed into finished goods and distributed to the end customer through various distribution channels. This process is well-known as e-procurement. E-Procurement is more than just a system for making purchases online. It provides an organized way to keep an open line of communication with potential suppliers during a business process.
Further, as a supplementary feature, some nominal direction is given as to where the models may fit into the procurement or operational process, where they might deliver value to the organisation, or where they may be used to develop corporate strategy.
