Foundations of Analog and Digital Electronic Circuits
Unlike books currently on the market, this book attempts to satisfy two goals: combine circuits and electronics into a single, unified treatment, and establish a strong connection with the contemporary world of digital systems. It will introduce a new way of looking not only at the treatment of circuits, but also at the treatment of introductory coursework in engineering in general. Using the concept of ''abstraction,'' the book attempts to form a bridge between the world of physics and the world of large computer systems. In particular, it attempts to unify electrical engineering and computer science as the art of creating and exploiting successive abstractions to manage the complexity of building useful electrical systems. Computer systems are simply one type of electrical systems. Traditionally, analog and digital elements and circuits are given in separate courses. Here, the authors want to show that in presenting both topics analog and digital , a deeper insight of the real problems of the actual electronics is obtained.
Transistor—transistor logic TTL is a logic family built from bipolar junction transistors. Its name signifies that transistors perform both the logic function the first "transistor" and the amplifying function the second "transistor" ; it is the same naming convention used in resistor—transistor logic RTL and diode—transistor logic DTL. TTL integrated circuits ICs were widely used in applications such as computers , industrial controls, test equipment and instrumentation, consumer electronics, and synthesizers. Sometimes TTL-compatible logic levels are not associated directly with TTL integrated circuits, for example, they may be used at the inputs and outputs of electronic instruments. After their introduction in integrated circuit form in by Sylvania , TTL integrated circuits were manufactured by several semiconductor companies. The series by Texas Instruments became particularly popular. TTL manufacturers offered a wide range of logic gates , flip-flops , counters, and other circuits.
